Top: Early morning in Inwood Hill Park, which borders our apartment building.
Next: We live just down the street from Baker Field, home to Columbia University's football stadium and its other athletic facilities (hence the big blue C painted on the cliff).
Third: Silas watching a Liga Ozama game. As with many games in this park, the national anthem of the Dominican Republic is played first, the Star Spangled Banner second.
(That's the Henry Hudson bridge in the background, between Manhattan and the Bronx.)
Above: Silas peering into the ongoing renovation of the Indian Road playground, which is due to be completed early next month.
Below: The NYC Parks Department maintains a bark teepee near Indian Road.
Long before it was Inwood, the neighborhood was known as Shorakkopoch, home to the Lenape. They're the folks who allegedly sold Manhattan to Peter Minuit for beads and cloth worth 50 guilders. The exchange went down in what is now Inwood Hill Park.
Here's Silas examining the plaque that marks the spot where the worst (or best, depending on your perspective) real estate deal in history took place.
Thankfully, the Grandparents Keithley were on hand all week to see Silas and help us move in. Here's Grandma showing Silas how to balance on the edge of the road.
Grandpa Keithley trekked to the base of the Henry Hudson Bridge.
