Storm

This week, Central Park suffered its worst storm in 30 years.

High winds knocked down more than two hundred trees.

The tree devastation was centered from 90th to 106th streets on the west side -- in other words, Silas Territory.

And you know what this means...

Trucks!

Silas did not appear overly concerned to see huge trees sprawled across his former stomping grounds. But he was thrilled to see how many trucks were involved in the massive clean-up effort.

We spent much of the morning watching the wood-chipper, before switching to the man in the bucket truck, who was slicing down broken branches with a chain saw. I'm not sure whether this was a good idea, but we were able to get within ten or fifteen feet of both operations. It was incredibly loud, but Silas had a great view of everything.

They say it will take weeks to remove all of the fallen trees and damaged treetops, so Silas has a lot of truck-watching in his future.
