Grandma Keithley turned 70 this July, and her gift was a simultaneous visit from all her grandchildren. Blair's family and Silas and I spent five days in Olympia at the end of the month (Meredith could not get time off from the hospital).
Silas and I arrived a day early. Our first stop was to see Great-Grandma Bernice. Washington was in the middle of a record-setting heat wave, so Silas spent a lot of time without clothes while the rest of us toughed it out.
The next morning, Silas joined Grandma Keithley in her daily battle: the sun vs. the yard. Thanks to Grandma's vigilant watering, the yard was winning.
Blair, Lisa, Aden, and Talia arrived the next day. I especially like this shot of them, on the deck in the morning, with no idea that I was taking their picture.
Silas and his cousins were very sweet with each other.
The only disputes involved trucks. Aden for the most part was above the fray; Talia just wanted equal time with the front loader. Silas, however, is fixated on trucks. Here in New York he has been known to spend the entire day carting around one or another of his various toy trucks. Recently when I told him "I love you" he responded, "I love trucks!"
Olympia was no different. Here he is commandeering Talia's tractor from the rear. She wanted to move it forward, but Silas's feet took over and drove it in the opposite direction.
Scenes of grandparental bliss:
My friend Chris was pressed into taking a family photo. He took some great pictures, but it proved impossible to capture all three kids sitting relatively still (forget smiling) and looking at the camera. But who can complain when you get a great shot of the squirmers and the laughers:
More photos from the trip are here.

I love the group picture with you squirming and unable to sit still. :)
The entire Keithley family is so beautiful and warm that spending just a few hours with you makes me smile for weeks afterwards.
Much Love
