We only had time for a relatively short trip, but the East Coast blizzard delayed our flight by four days. So we got some bonus time with the Grandparents Keithley (as Meredith scrambled for patient coverage and I filed court papers seeking extensions).
Silas made cookies with Grandma, played piano with Grandpa, and enjoyed living in a big house with a staircase.
On Christmas Day, we drove to AJ and Kim's -- Silas's Great Uncle and Great Aunt -- where he was reunited with many of his cousins.
Pictured below, with Great-Grandma Bernice, are (from top, then left to right) second cousins Jacob, Tyler, Carmen, Jackson, and Jolie (and Silas).
Meredith, a daughter of California, was treated to the Pacific Northwest's persistent winter drizzle. We hustled Silas outside whenever the rain let up.
Here are pictures of our visit to the Port of Olympia -- we went to see the cranes, because Silas loves cranes. (Unfortunately, no ships were in port and the cranes were still.)
We also spent a morning hiking through Tumwater Falls Park (below). I think it has been 25 years since I'd visited the park. It looked the same, except that the brewery next to the falls (Olympia Beer, anyone?) has been shuttered and partially demolished.
More pictures from around Christmastime are here.
