Spring

We got the typical New York spring this year. It goes like this: One weekend the trees are bare and it's forty degrees. The next weekend the trees begin to blossom and it's sixty degrees (that was last weekend). The weekend after that it's ninety-two degrees, and, sweating and sunburned, you think: So much for spring.

So the first set of photos is from last weekend, when flowers and leaves were just starting to poke out. We took Silas to Riverside Park; that's the park that runs beside the Hudson River all along the Upper West Side and Harlem. We live close to Riverside Park -- it's only four avenues away from our apartment building -- but until now we've always gone to Central Park, which is only one avenue away.

In this next picture, Silas is running full speed toward the Dinosaur Playground.

In case you are wondering why it's called the Dinosaur Playground:

Silas likes to point at things and call out their names -- and if possible, he likes to put his index finger directly on the thing in question. Here he is pointing at the "Oh-doh-saur."

More spring photos, including pictures of Silas going down the slide by himself at the Dinosaur Playground, are here.

This next set of photos is from today. We've switched parks and are back at the old standby.

More Central Park photos are here (it's the same link as above).
